With what is probably be the final online auction of the year currently underway, we thought it would be a good time to look back through some of the greyhounds both sold and unsold from our online auctions in 2025 and what they have gone on to achieve.
Running on a monthly basis in majority in 2025, the online auctions have seen a total of 41 greyhounds successfully sold. Below is a review of each auction in detail with both graded and open race winners celebrated.
JANUARY
SOLD
Ardera Billy (£2100) sold to Paul Donovan and won a D1 at Central Park in 16.43. The same trainer also got his hands on Kiso Uma (£1500) who was able to win an Open Race at Central Park in 29.26. Another success was Ronnies Wishes (£1150) who won an A4 at Pelaw Grange.
UNSOLD
One of the biggest unsold story’s of 2025 will be Mystical Jet who was making £10,000 but did not satisfy his owners reserve of £12,000. He then went on to be sold for £25,500 at the Towcester sales. Now named Teejays Chelms, he won his first round assignment of the English Greyhound Derby for Paul Young but hasn’t been seen too often afterwards.
A missed opportunity could also be told about Beechwood Moss. Making £1750 in the auction (Reserve-£2500), he has since gone on to win at Shelbourne Park in 28.63. Semtex Boy is another to fall in this category having only been making £300 (Reserve-£1500) but is now a twice Open race winner at Doncaster.
FEBRUARY
SOLD
One of the purchases of the year has been Hard Done Boy for £6400. He started life in the UK unbeaten, winning four-in-a-row at Swindon including 3 Opens with a best time of 27.84. He then went on to run in the Greyhoundtrader.com Stakes with his future perhaps lying over 6-bends.
Racenight Ivan (£3500) has won an Open Race over 575m at Romford in 35.77. Tromora Primrose (now Millhill May) was another to win an Open Race at Sunderland in 27.16 having sold for £3000. Lastly, Glengar Cristine (now Tintreach Tina) won A3 at Central after selling for £2000.
UNSOLD
Dreamin Porcha didn’t sell for £2550 with her reserve being at £6500. She was a runner-up in the recent SR Transport Rose Bowl at Pelaw Grange. Ballymac Rola was another not to sell at £1750 (Reserve-£2250) and she has since gone on to win an A1 at Yarmouth.
APRIL
SOLD
Rackethall Ariel (now Milton Ariel) topped the April auction at £4000. She has since won an Open race at Oxford for trainer Samantha Lapidge. Grantstown Hero (now Itsur Hero) sold for £2000 and won A1 at Romford in a fast 23.84 for trainer Paul Young.
UNSOLD
Bidding for Ballinabola Pixi got to £2000 but she fell short of her £4000 reserve. This had the makings of being a cheap purchase even if reaching her reserve with Pixi having since gone on to win at Enniscorthy in a fast time of 28.50.
Now Yer Talkin £4450 was another not to sell with a reserve of £5000. Now named Ashway Diva, she has won an A2 at Swindon. Parkview Sprite (who reappears in the November online auction) made £1500 against his reserve of £5000. Just last weekend he was a winner at Cork in 28.36 which helps to justify their original asking price.
A couple of cheaper sorts to have performed too include Stefans Flash £1150 (Res-£1250) who has since been a winner in 28.92 at Dundalk whilst the still puppy Solid Tornado was making £950 (Res-£1250) and has won at Tralee in 29.01.
MAY
SOLD
Blastoff Ger (now Ashway Blastoff) sold for £2550 and has won an A2 at Swindon. Crafty Kido could soon become one of the bargains of the online auctions in 2025 having sold for £3000. Still a January 2024 pup, he won Open race at Oxford in a very good 26.67 on just his 3rd start. The future looks very bright for this son of Grangeview Ten for trainer Savva Roberts.
UNSOLD
Deerjet Rocket was the only standout non-sale, making £6000 against his reserve of £10,000. He has since won a heat of the 1st round Steel City cup heat in 28.84 at Sheffield for still trainer Tom Helibron.
JUNE
SOLD
Singalong Mick (now Venetian Mick) sold for £11,000 and won an Open Race at Towcester on his UK debut in 29.02 for trainer Kevin Hutton. The other standout sale was Clonroosk Benz (now Wentworth Derek) for £6300 who also won on his UK debut in an A2 at Hove in 29.62.
UNSOLD
Kournikova didn’t sell for a staggering £17,000 with her owner setting the reserve at £25,000. Now named Slick Skylark, she is in training with Patrick Janssens and recently won an OR3 competition at Central Park in 29.01.
The June online auction was host to a number of greyhounds from the kennels of Liam Dowling too. Ballymac Og didn’t sell at £4100 (Res-£6000) but has since entered the winners enclosure in an A1 at Newcastle on debut in 29.09. Ballymac Carlina was making £4500 (Res-£5000) and she subsequently qualified unraced at Shelbourne Park in 18.94. Ballymac Connery £4500 (Res-£6000) has won an A4 at Swindon in 28.29. Lastly, Ballymac Duffle whose last bid was £6000 (Res-£7000) is still yet to run again but looks to be from a very smart litter which has been showcased over the most recent weekend at Shelbourne Park by Ballymac Chantry (27.92), Ballymac Gloria (28.13) and Grouchos Gregor (28.45).
AUGUST
SOLD
Eddie Spaghetti sold for £4000 after winning his debut race at Youghal. Now trained by Shaun Gresham, he was a recent winner of an A2 at Oxford. Another successful sale was Clonoon Ansar for £2400 who is twice an Open race winner at Doncaster including an impressive performance over 450m in 27.75 for trainer D Fradgley.
UNSOLD
Damian Matthews is the main source of supply here and perhaps one in particular can be seen as a missed opportunity. Pain Barrier was not sold for £7000 (Res-£10,000) but now under the care of Kim Billingham has seen himself land multiple Open race wins and also a track record at the new Dunstall Park venue in 27.80.
Down Tothe Wire £3500 (Res-£12,000) was a winner of an ON2 race at Shelbourne Park in 28.81 whilst Damian’s other dog Debut Delight £3550 (Res-£10,000) has also won back in Ireland at Dundalk in an impressive 21.36.
Chelms Charmer £2750 (Res-£4000) didn’t sell and ran out a winner of an A1 at Yarmouth in a scintillating 27.70. Clonbrien King only reached £1500 (Res-£2500) but has since completed an official 28.67 trial at Limerick. Drombeg Jet completes the list for August having not sold for £1950 (Res-£4000). He since ran out a winner of an A2 at Limerick over 550y in 30.11.
SEPTEMBER
SOLD
Hot Wood (now Hardwick Woody) matched his reserve of £5000 and sold to Newcastle trainer S Caile. Bought with the intention to run in the All England Cup at the end of the year, he ran out a convincing winner on UK debut at Newcastle in a fast time of 28.34 on 30th October. The plan all seems go for this son of Airmount Nando.
Drombeg Angel was another successful sale at £1650 and she has won an A3 at Newcastle in 29.01 for trainer P Rutherford.
UNSOLD
The most high-profile of the unsold was Ballymac Caradoc with bidding for him reaching £5000 (Res-£12,000). Now named Buddys Bullet for trainer Belinda Green, he was a recent winner of an Open race at Hove in 29.49. Stringer was so close to selling at £4800 (Res-£5000) but unfortunately a post-auction agreement couldn’t be reached. Perhaps a decision to regret as Stringer since has won at Shelbourne Park in 28.39.
Ballinabola Mona missed out on a sale at £1000 (Res-£2000) and has since won an A3 at Enniscorthy in 28.96. And one of the bigger missed opportunities could be Now And Then. Making £2100 on the site against her reserve of £2500, she subsequently made the Semi-Finals of the English Oaks at Dunstall Park for her same connections.
OCTOBER
SOLD
It is still early days to assess the success of the October sales but the latest results include a 27.53 trial at Sunderland for Ballyregan Cash who sold for £3750 whilst Glengar Maizy (now Lynnia Maisie) sold for £1500 and won a D3 on debut at Dunstall Park.
UNSOLD
Daring Diamond went unsold at £3950 (Res-£8000) and looks to have since changed hands in Ireland. A recent 17.81 trial at Cork (S0 time) suggests Diamond is in rich form and will be kept for a campaign over there which could include the Kirby.
There were also two greyhounds which didn’t sell in the online auction but both subsequently travelled to the Oxford sales later on in the month. Mystical Batman had a 28.61 trial at Limerick to name but £4200 wasn’t deemed enough with a reserve of £5000 in the online auction. But after winning his sales trial at Oxford in 27.22, he eventually sold for £6000.
Diligently similarly had a fast trial at Dundalk to name and was making £6100 (Res-£10,000) in the auction. At Oxford, he didn’t win his sales trial but still sold for £5100 to trainer Richie Taberner.
