The first Greyhound Trader online auction of 2026 is due to get underway at 6pm on Friday 6th March.
The online auctions have been a hugely popular platform since its inception and over the years has been the purchasing platform for the likes of Coppice Josie (TR Oxford), Lively Lauren (4x Cat 1 finalist), Savana Top Cat (GT Stakes winner), Ballymac Madgie (dual Cat 1 finalist), Pape Di Oro (Romford Silver Maiden winner) and Tory Bellatrix (TR Central Park).
2026 is set to be yet another big year with the auctions to carry on in their usual monthly instalments. There are 13 greyhounds registered for the first auction of the year beginning at 6pm and closing at the same time 48 hours later. A number of usual vendors are part of it including the well-respected Sean Conway who enters the youngest greyhound in the auction.
Below is a short preview of each greyhound in alphabetical order:-
(click on name for IGB form)
Ballyregan Enid – A July 2024 daughter of Mustang Jet and Blastoff Apache who won her latest race at Limerick in 29.38. Showing the same early pace trait of her sire, Enid made all in this race and is a very trappy type who could go well at the shorter venues of the UK.
Ballyregan Sally – A June 2024 daughter of King Sheeran and Sporting Riviera who also won her last race at Limerick in a good 29.04. Differently to Enid, Sally is a strong stayer who took the lead coming into the final bend. Her race comments have more often than not included either RNON or FINWELL and makes her a strong candidate for a Hove/Towcester trainer or even those looking at 6-bends. Sally is a half-sister to former Towcester TR holder Sporting Chile.
Comeon Me Babe – A September 2024 daughter of Newinn Taylor and Kildallon Tilly who recently made her debut at Limerick, finishing 3rd to a smart type from the Graham Holland kennel. Babe herself clocked 29.33 in the race, which is a promising start to her career and will line up in the final of the ON2 stake this Saturday night. Her dam is a full-sister to dual Irish classic winner One Time Only who is now a stud-dog in Australia.
Gizmo Alpha – A September 2024 son of Champion Irish sprinter Gizmo Cash who has won 2 out of 3 at Lifford. Beating a smart dog of the Matthews set-up on both occasions, Alpha has shown plenty of early pace and looks as if he will get the 4-bends in time. His debut 17.88 performance is certainly one to take note of.
Gizmo Mystery – A litter-sister to Alpha above, Mystery competed in the same ON2 stake at Lifford which saw them both make the final. Mystery’s best performance came in the semi-final where she was beaten just a neck and she can only improve on her best time of 18.08.
Optic Pharaoh – A March 2023 son of Dorotas Wildcat who competed in last year’s English Greyhound Derby for trainer Tom Helibron. Pharaoh was entered having won in the first round of the Maiden Derby in a good 29.38, looking a hugely promising type. Pharaoh has only ever competed in Open races and has made the Semi-finals of two Category One competitions (Maiden Derby and Northern Flat). Ready-made open racer who could be entered into the 2026 English Greyhound Derby.
Pomba Flo – A stunning white & black June 2024 daughter of Lenson Bocko and Newinn Nifty who is twice a winner at Clonmel in 29.06. A lady full of early pace, Flo showed serious early gears on both occasions from Trap6 and looks one to have plenty of fun with. Her dam Newinn Nifty is a full-sister to Derby winning sire Newinn Taylor.
Pomba Joan – A March 2024 daughter of Newinn Taylor who made her debut at Limerick last weekend, finishing 2nd and recording a time of 29.60. Just turned two years old, Joan lead all the way before being picked up close to the line. By Newinn Taylor, her breeding suggests that she will be fully of early and may struggle to get home but could be ideal for Romford, Pelaw, Oxford, etc.
Rebel George – A September 2023 son of Burgess Bucks and Clear Mountain who is a 3-times Open Race winner at Star Pelaw. A half-brother to Irish sensation Bombay Pat, George is just going into his prime and will make a nice ready-to-go greyhound for the shorter venues with the bond and transport already paid for.
Sunnyside Gurkha – An August 2023 son of Serene Ace who has only competed at Open class in the North of England, winning an incredible 9-times at Sunderland with a best time of 26.83. A dog with similar traits to his sire, Gurkha is all about early pace and also has an impressive recent sprint victory to his name which makes him a prospect for both sprinting or the shorter 4-bend circuits. Could make a nice Romford Friday night greyhound.
Theyreallwaiting – The youngest greyhound in the auction being a January 2025. This stunning brindle daughter of Dorotas Wildcat and Droopys Newsie has no mark on her card yet but is due to trial officially at Lifford on Saturday night. A product of the Sean Conway academy, her owner expects a big run and describes her as having electric early. One to follow closely.
Timesarechanging – An unraced September 2024 son of Newinn Taylor and Global Prima who has just one mark to his name which is 17.22 at Waterford. Lightly schooled to date but showing signs that he could perhaps be suited to the shorter venues. His litter sister Flashing Style (Sold for £1000 at our Monmore sales) is already an Open race winner at Doncaster with 2 wins from 4 starts.
Tromora Lizzie – An unraced November 2024 daughter of Dromana Bucko and Julieanna who had her first official trial at Limerick just last Wednesday. An exciting prospect, this fawn bitch won her trial in 29.28 which places her in ON1 company. Just 16 months old, Lizzie is perhaps the most interesting greyhound in the auction with untapped potential and age on her side.
