The second instalment of the Greyhound Trader online auctions for 2025 commenced over the previous weekend and despite a limited number of entries, there was still plenty of interest with over 50% of greyhounds selling.
Top lot was Hard Done Boy who sold for £6400. A June 2023 pup by Ballyhimikin Jet, he had won his only race to date at Kilkenny in a fast time of 29.12s and now heads for a career in the UK with John Campbell at Swindon.
Racenight Ivan sold for £3500 post auction having clearly impressed with his Open race victory at Nottingham in January. A future 6-bend greyhound, he heads south from Tom Helibron to Allison Kelly-Pilgrim who is now attached to Romford.
One greyhound staying in Ireland is Cypress Creek who joins the kennels of Kurtis Bain having sold for £1350. A SS0 winner in Ireland, Creek is likely to be aimed at the big sprint competitions across the shore including the €20,000 Dundalk National Sprint.
Overall, 7 of the 12 greyhounds (58%) entered sold for a total over £16,000.
Greyhound Trader wishes to remind vendors of the success had with high quality greyhounds selling in the past and would like to encourage people to advertise their greyhounds with confidence in the online auctions. Previous results include Scaglietti (£45,100), Ballymac Walt (£18,400), Stonepark Syd (£15,200), Romeo Top Cat (£14,300) as well as numerous other 5-figure sales.
