The next Greyhound Trader online auction is upon us and a 20-strong catalogue of greyhounds will be available for buyers to bid on come 6pm this evening.

A number of high-class entrants have been entered this weekend with the winner of the Future Champions ON1 stake at Enniscorthy and two Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Quarter-Finalists amongst those available to bid on.

Bidding ends at the usual time of 6pm on Sunday 12th April and transport options have been pre-booked for next week for those looking to get a greyhound over in time to prepare for the English Greyhound Derby which starts in 3 weeks time.

Preview in alphabetical order:

(1) BALLINABOLA SYD – July 2024 son of Droopys Sydney who is yet to score at Enniscorthy but showed huge promise as a youngster, qualifying in 29.27 and 19.25 at the same venue. Likely one to forgive for his races with inexperience to blame.

(2) BALLYBREEN ROSE – December 2023 daughter of Ballymac Best who is a 2-time race winner at Enniscorthy. Her 29.49 debut victory in an ON1 stake was the highlight and will be make a valuable asset as a grader.

(3) BALLYBREEN ZETA – A litter-sister to Rose above, Zeta has just the won victory to name being 29.62 at Enniscorthy. Her common racing remarks of RNON suggest Zeta could be a nice bitch to run over 500m in the UK grades.

(4) BALLYREGAN ENID – July 2024 daughter of Mustang Jet who won her latest race last week at Limerick in a good 28.99. This was a career best performance for the early paced flyer who had previously scored at the same venue in 29.38 too.

(5) CLONA CHASE – The first of the high-profile entries in this weekend’s Greyhound Trader online auction. This July 2024 son of Deerjet Sydney and Nice Mystery was crowned winner of the prestigious Future Champion ON1 unraced stake at Enniscorthy on Monday night, winning in 29.01. Previous winners in this competition include Thorn Falcon and Haka Carlo in recent years which says all you need to know about the standard of this competition. A dog with scintillating early pace, he could be aimed at the Derby or be kept for the Category One puppy competitions at Sheffield and Sunderland. Litter-brother Barnfield Titan was snapped up for a large sum and has won in 29.10 at Central Park already.

(6) COALVILLE CLOWN – Unraced November 2024 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat who qualified at Limerick in 29.44. Her dam Florentis was a 28.31 winner at Shelbourne Park making her extremely well-bred.

(7) DOWN TOTHE WIRE – January 2024 son of Airmount Nando who was a winner last weekend at Limerick in 28.77. A strong running type who took over the lead at the 3rd bend, Wire has the makings of an ideal Towcester Derby dog. His trainer reports of him doing unbelievable trials at home and holds him in the same regard as the brother Ello Ello who won a heat of the Kirby in 28.03.

(8) DROOPYS WEAVER – August 2024 son of Droopys Got It who looked very impressive at Mullingar on his opening 2 starts of his career. A 16L 29.31 winner was followed a week later by an improved 9.5L 28.92 win. This is as good as it gets at Mullingar and with his age will be suitable for the upcoming UK puppy competitions.

(9) FARAWAY DOWNS – A litter-sister to the Ballybreen duo, this December 2023 bitch has ran with credit at Enniscorthy but is yet to win. A head second on Monday in 29.39 was a career best performance for this bitch who will add to any graded kennel.

(10) GLENGAR SALLY – September 2024 superbly bred bitch (Ballymac Cashout x Singalong Sally) who offers unique breeding potential for purchasers looking long-term. Unraced to date with 29.92 at Limerick her best, Sally is a half-sister to Irish Derby 3rd Glengar Silent and litter-sister to Singalong Cherry (28.33 SPK) and Glengar Vegas (28.49 Newc). Her value as a brood could easily make her a worthwhile investment.

(11) GROUCHOS COSSIE – May 2024 son of Ballymac Cooper and Ballymac Wisdom who made the QF stages of the ongoing Kirby Memorial stake at Limerick. Perhaps not fully suited to the 525y distance, Cossie has winning 575y form at Shelbourne Park with a 7 lengths 31.35 victory and also has DD0 form over 730y at Waterford. Not even 2 years old yet, this reads extremely well for his potential as a stayer in the UK but also as a competition dog over the 500m distances in the UK including the upcoming Derby.

(12) GROUCHOS GREGOR – A litter-brother to Cossie above who could be suggested to have that little bit of extra early kick. Gregor shot to fame on debut when winning an ON1 race against Bockos Gold by 11 lengths in 28.45 at Shelbourne Park. Form such as 18.66 at Limerick and a 7 lengths 29.78 win over 550y at Galway have followed for this highly talented son of Ballymac Wisdom whose previous progeny include the highly talented Ballymac Patriot and Ballymac Blanco. Gregor will go to the English Derby either way with the option of being retained on by the current trainer available if wanted.

(13) ME THEHOLYMAN – December 2023 son of Signet Ace who has an impressive 7 victories to his name. A 29.07 win at Lifford perhaps stands out as the best along with a recent 2nd over 575y at Shelbourne Park behind a nice type. Could make a nice addition to kennels running over 500m.

(14) RATHDOWN MAGGY – Unraced December 2024 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat and Rathdown Molly who was a 28.12 winner at Cork. Maggy has just the one trial to name which was an 11 lengths win in 29.88 at Cork. One who sits in the could be anything category.

(15) SHEBAS COMET – October 2024 daughter of King Sheeran who has failed to get off the mark from 4 attempts at Waterford. A middle/wide runner, Comet is still a young lady and will make a valuable graded addition.

(16) SUNNYSIDE JAYDEN – July 2023 son of Coolavanny Hoffa who is already UK-based and has racked up a huge amount of wins across the sprint trips of Sunderland, Newcastle and Doncaster. A high-class sprinter, he could make a valuable addition to those open race kennels looking for a sprinter to add to their team or he could be worth bringing to Romford for the 400m where his early pace would most definitely suit.

(17) SHUDAWUDACOUDA – April 2024 son of Drumantine who was unfortunate to be knocked out of the QF of the Kirby Memorial stake when finishing 4th in a time of 28.37 still. A close 2nd the week before in 28.38 puts him up there with the very best in Ireland and just turned 2 years old this month he looks an exciting type to take to competitions. An 8 length victory on debut at SPK in 28.53 was his highlight victory and this strong running greyhound is yet another who should be targeted at the English Derby in 3 weeks time.

(18) THEYREALLWAITING – Unraced January 2025 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat who trialled at 14 months old in SPK with a 5 length victory in 19.05 for the sprint trip. Highly regarded at home and understandably so after this trial, it’s been reported that not much has been done with her due to age so further improvement is yet expected.

(19) THORNEY VIEW – July 2024 son of Grangeview Ten who won at the end of March in 29.09 at Clonmel. A wide-runner, he showed a determined attitude in this race and looks versatile trip wise with 480m and 500m both within his skillset.

(20) ZENIA – Unraced September 2024 daughter of Koblenz who qualified impressively at Kilkenny in 29.07 which places her straight into ON1 company. As we know, Kilkenny is a very tough circuit making this run even more impressive and this bitch is well-regarded by her owner who has sold plenty of open racers on this platform before.
