There are just 3 hours remaining in the early August Greyhound Trader online auction from which 20 greyhounds are presented to the general public for bidding.
Over the 45 hours that have gone, the most popular between potential purchasers has been the young April 2025 dog Mustang Carlos who has been subject to 7 different bidders. A son of champion Irish stayer Tuono Charlie, his 28.93 trial over the weekend at Clonmel clearly spiked interest with the bid currently at £5050. A little way still of his vendors reserve, it is highly recommended to bid on if you want to be the one to secure this exciting puppy.
The next most popular has been the already UK-based Swift Krab with 6 different bidders. With the bid currently standing at £2747 for this son of Signet Ace who boasts some impressive form around Central Parl, it is expected that he will be sold by 6pm this evening if the bidding continues.
A number of dogs have been the recipients of bids from 5 different bidders. These include Lucky Duke, Grouchos Alvin, Saleen Bloom, Ballinabola Todd and Sunnyside Jayden.
Lucky Duke has been impressive to date in Ireland and recently completed a 28.55 trial around Limerick. Eligible for the soon approaching Romford Puppy Cup, he could soon be offered onto the market with some movement past the current £5950 bid.
Grouchos Alvin is another who looks a nice prospect for the future having qualified around Limerick in 29.04 despite trouble in running. The bidding for this son of Grouchos Duke stands at £4600 and perhaps a figure above £5000 could tempt owners to take their chance.
Saleen Bloom was ultra impressive on her only start to date, winning on debut at Tralee in 29.03. Just a young January 2025 bitch who is owner/trained, she could prove a smart purchase for those looking for a strong-running type with the bid for her currently at £3501.
Ballinabola Todd is an exceptionally well-coloured white and dun dog who has a 28.90 win to name at Enniscorthy on what was just his second start. His bid will need to increase beyond £1500 if he is to have a new owner this evening.
Lastly, another of the UK-based options is Sunnyside Ted who has an incredible record of 26 open race victories already. Certainly well placed to compete in all the major sprint competitions, he could prove to be a shrewd purchase for connections willing to travel across the UK. His latest bid stands at £2992 which won’t be enough but would start to ask questions with a little more.
Crossfield Dean is well positioned to sell having seen a £3050 bid placed on himself. The August 2023 son of Droopys Sydney, who was a previous Towcester Pre-Derby sales purchase, is highly regarded by current trainer Tom Helibron who has made it clear he would like to keep the dog in the kennel for any potential purchaser which fills you with confidence.
Other greyhounds who are close to hitting their reserves include Saleen Action (£2001) and Tobergal Millie (£350) so for anyone interested in either of these then it is highly recommended to place a bid before time runs out.
For those who missed it too, Deelish Chase trialed at Cork last night recording a time of 29.72 and as such has displayed his potential as a nice graded prospect for most kennels.
