Online Auction Results 10-12 April

Another successful April online auction as two English Greyhound Derby hopefuls find new owners ahead of the big event which is less than three weeks away now!

There were a great assortment of greyhounds on offer over the weekend in the Greyhound Trader online auction and unsurprisingly there were plenty of bids placed by onlooking buyers. For the first time ever, the auction has finished with joint top-lots as Shudacudawouda and Grouchos Cossie both were sold for £12,000.

Shudacudawouda is an April 2024 son of Drumantine and Pennys Lauren who wasn’t sold for his original £10,000 final bid. However, a quickly organised deal of £12,000 was done with his current owner/trainer Damian Matthews who will continue to the greyhound for the upcoming English Derby before he continues his career full-time on UK shores. Set to trial at Towcester on Wednesday in a 500m solo we wish new connections the best of luck!

Joining him at the top-table was Grouchos Cossie who similarly sold for £12,000 after an overtime bidding war. The May 2024 son of Ballymac Cooper and Ballymac Wisdom has some strong form to name over extended distances and will be joining the very capable hands of Diane Henry who famously guided sales graduate Savana Beau to the final of the 2022 English Greyhound Derby.

The unraced September 2024 bitch Zenia was another to have continued interest throughout the auction before selling for £5500 to owner/trainer Shaun Gresham. A half-sister to recent Cork Oaks winner Bombay Special she will certainly be an interesting proposition to follow in capable hands.

Theyreallwaiting was the subject of huge late interest with the price rising from £2550 to £5000 on Sunday afternoon. The January 2025 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat was an impressive trial winner in 19.05 at Shelbourne Park for Sean Conway and she will start her racing career in the North of England with trainer Tom Helibron.

Other sales included Thorney View for £2250 following his recent 29.09 victory at Clonmel. He joins the kennels of Paul Young whilst the unraced Muldona Diamond sold for £2600 and will be heading to Joy Andrews at Sheffield.

Out-of-auction sales were too completed for Clona Chase at £15,000 to trainer Brian Fairbank whilst Glengar Sally sold for £4000 and will remain in Ireland as a brood prospect.

In total, sales totalled £62,750 with a clearance rate of 60%.
