Greyhound Trader are back for September with an online auction starting proceedings before the Hove sales on the 15th of September.
With a strong entry to hand, there are 17 greyhounds available to bid on including entries from Liam Dowling’s Ballymac kennels as well as the growing Ballinabola kennel.
As normal the auction will run from 6pm on Friday evening until 6pm on Sunday.
Below each greyhound is previewed:
Hot Wood – February 2022 dog who is running at Shelbourne Park on Saturday in the 3rd round of the Irish Derby. A great kennel servant for his current handler, highlights in his career include a sublime 28.19 win at Shelbourne and a 29.48 victory over 550y at Limerick. Whilst age is against him, he could be worth a punt for anyone looking for a short-term competition greyhound.
Ballymac Caradoc – January 2024 dog by Australian sire Orchestrate who is already a 2-time race winner in Tralee for owner/breeder Liam Dowling. His first winning coming over 525y in 28.83 and last week he won over 570y in 30.98 (A0). A strong finishing sort who looks suitable for the Puppy Derby at Towcester.
Ballymac Cloon – October 2023 dog by Ballymac Cashout who scored a hat-trick of wins at Tralee in August en route to winning a €4000 mini competition. Wins in 28.52, 28.66 and 28.42 secured the prize money. Looks more than capable of running open class in the UK.
Stringer – May 2023 son of Ballymac Cashout who boasts two recent victories at Shelbourne Park in 28.68 and 28.69. Attempted his chances over 550y last night at the same venue where he was just headed near the line but showed plenty of pace to have the race at his mercy. Will make a nice open class asset to venues 480m or shorter.
Ballinabola Pixi – September 2023 bitch by Confident Rankin who is closely related to Ballinabola Ed. Already a 7-times winner around Enniscorthy and Newbridge, Pixi is arguably in the form of her life now with two recent victories in fast times of 28.74 and 28.88 in A1 company. Just turned 2 years old, this is definitely one to consider.
Drombeg Angel – October 2023 bitch by Grangeview Ten who won last week at Galway in a fast 29.25 by 5 lengths. A strong staying type who looks ready for 6-bends, her brother Eddie Spaghetti sold for £4000 in last months online auction.
Bathway Springs – Unraced January 2024 son of Magical Bale who qualified at Limerick on Wednesday in 29.16, winning his trial by 9 lengths. A dog with blistering early, he would be much better suited to the tighter venues such as Romford or Oxford.
Ballymac Drasher – Unraced May 2024 dog by Ballymac Finn who has just one qualifying mark to his name which was 29.53 in Tralee. Just 13 months old when doing this, Drasher will improve immensely and is still so young.
Ballymac Kokoro – A sister to Drasher above, Kokoro is already racing and won just last week at Tralee by 7.5 lengths in 29.30. A very promising victory for a 16 month old pup, she has long been thought of as making a nice stayer in time.
Marlfield Mags – September 2023 daughter of Ballymac Cashout who produced a career best victory in her most recent race, winning at Clonmel in 28.79. A previous winner in 29.29 at the same venue too.
Marlfield Rapido – September 2023 dog by Ballyhimikin Jet who scored at Clonmel in 29.12 at the end of last month. Has been on the go non-stop since April and looks the ideal grader.
Ballinabola Nico – February 2024 son of Glengar Bale who is a half-brother to Ballinabola Ed. Qualified unraced at Enniscorthy in 29.20 behind a well regarded sort, and was beaten just a head on debut in 29.56 at the same venue. Age on his side and plenty of improvement to come with more experience.
Ballinabola Mona – January 2024 daughter of Ballinabola Ed who has won 3-times around Enniscorthy. Wins in 29.16 and 29.17 within the last 3 weeks place Mona at a decent level with early pace her game.
Glengar Nitro – Unraced July 2024 dog by Deerjet Sydney who qualified at Limerick on Wednesday in 29.79. Just 14 months old, there’s loads more to come and will make a nice addition to all kennels.
Weekend Surprise – Unraced June 2024 bitch by Australian sire Tommy Shelby who is due to have her first qualifying trial tonight at Kilkenny. Comes from a kennel who often sells a good one.
Sharben Gift – September 2023 son of Zero Ten who is yet to get off the mark but has shown plenty of staying potential in his races. Has already run over 6-bends in Ireland to an OK level.
Now And Then – February 2023 daughter of Coolavanny Hoffa who is running at Newcastle for trainer Tom Helibron. A winner at the start of August in 28.78, she also finished second just last night at the same venue in 28.79. Running A1 grade, there is plenty of fun still to be had with this lady at any track in the UK.
