The Premier Greyhound Racing English Oaks at Perry Barr gets underway this Saturday and has all the makings of a high-class renewal of the English Classic.

Worth £20,000 to the winner, the famed competition was deservedly won last year by the Patrick Jansenns trained Slick Sakina in track record breaking fashion. This year, his team will be headed by previous Empress Stakes finalist Charming Girl who will have to get the better of ante-post favourite and Produce Stakes champion Queen Joni.

Interestingly, there will be competition from across the sea as Robert Gleeson sends Droopys Mandolin and Droopys Ailsa in hope of following in the footsteps of the 2021 champion Billys Diva.

Greyhound Trader will be represented by 7 greyhounds in this years instalment. Leading the charge is Ballymac Astra (25/1) for the MWD Partnership. Off the mark last time out at Towcester in 29.48, she will look to continue improving to be competitive towards the latter stages.

Coppice Josie and Rapid Lady both sit in the betting at 33/1, with early pace the key to both ladies races. Beatties Sparkle (125/1), Amazing Sasha (150/1), Arthur Cucumber (200/1) and Cooladerry Habs (200/1) make up the remaining team.

It is worth noting for those purchased from the Greyhound Trader track sales that they qualify for the £10,000 Time Greyhound Nutrition bonus if going on to win the competition outright.

We wish all greyhounds competing the best of luck!
