Online Auction blog

As 6pm gets closer, James Corden looks at what is on offer in this weekend’s Greyhound Trader online auction.

“Truly I believe that the 15 on offer are some of the best we have had all year profile wise.

There are a lot of young race winners who look suitable for competitions such as the Puppy Oaks & Monmore Puppy Derby which should appeal to many onlooking bidders.

My pick of the sale would be Racenight Ivan. A handy dog at 66lb, but one with a big engine. His brother sold for £10,000 at the Towcester Puppy Derby sales to the kennels of Maxine Locke which are flying at the moment. As an April 2023, Ivan qualifies for both the Northern and Monmore Puppy Derby’s but it is over 6-bends where he will be seen to thrive. In my opinion he could turn into a St Leger candidate.”

The online auctions have a good track record selling staying stars with Lively Lauren (650m Oxford TR), Tory Bellatrix (664m Central Park TR) and Savana Heross (660m Sheffield Queen Mother Memorial winner) so perhaps Ivan will be next to join them.

“Bitches wise, I think that Ginger Jane represents a good opportunity to purchase a ready-made Open Class bitch who would be in with a shout for English Puppy Oaks glory if purchased this weekend. 28.50 at SPK is no mean feat.

The two Ballinabola bitches (Lady & June) are even younger and also represent outstanding form with 28.91 and 28.99 at Enniscorthy on their respective cards. With improvement left to come I’m sure, I think people could be caught out with how special these two may be. Extremely well bred and eligible for the Puppy Oaks too, what’s not to like!

Finally, Bellagio (Apr’23) and the stunning Snow Patrol (May’23) I expect to be popular as we near the end of the auction.

Bellagio did nothing wrong in his two races to date so far, winning his most recent in 28.77 at Limerick. Fairly priced I believe, he could be an interest open racing candidate in the UK.

Snow Patrol is yet to race but qualified at SPK in 28.86. He is being sold by the same vendor as to Savana Heross, Lively Savannah and Antigua Eagle (ex Omuircheartaigh) who all went on to perform to a high level in the UK. Any improvement from this greyhound will see him similarly make Open class.”

Bidding ends at 6PM for what is the final Greyhound Trader online auction of the year. Other than the Oxford Sales on November 20th, this could be your last chance to buy a greyhound in 2024….. so don’t miss out!
