October Online Auction blog

There are roughly 6 hours remaining in October’s instalment of the Greyhound Trader online auction’s and there is plenty of bidding to report on.

After the withdrawals of Kiso Uma, Racenight Mike and Uisce Beatha there are still 12 greyhounds awaiting to see if they will be sold by this evening.

Happy Jet quickly reached a figure of £6000 yesterday but has since remained untouched. An Irish Greyhound Derby semi-finalist with 28.34 winning form, I would suspect he needs to go a little higher yet before questions are asked with a guide price of £10,000.

Mystical Batman was an intriguing late addition to the auction. An unraced October 2023 dog by Grangeview Ten, he counts multiple top-class greyhounds amongst his siblings including none other than Irish Derby finalist Magical Mags. Batman looks to have similar pace having qualified in Limerick in 28.61 for what is his only mark on his card. With bidding currently at £3051 there looks a bit to go yet with the guide price at £6500.

Tromora Boom has been one of the more popular greyhounds with the most individual bidders bidding. A 28.73 debut winner at Limerick, this March 2024 son of Ballymac Cashout certainly has plenty going for him. Bidding stands at £4400 which isn’t too far off his £5500 guide price.

Diligently has received a sharp intake of bids this morning having qualified at Dundalk last night in 21.41 for the Matthews family. An April 2024 son of Drumantine, he clearly has all sorts of pace and seems to be viewed as an ideal Monmore Puppy Derby candidate. He stands at £6000 as of now but more bids will need to be made with his guide price set at £10,000.

Chart Topper has been subject of steady interest with bidding currently at £2800. A December 2023 son of King Sheeran who won his last race at Shelbourne Park in 28.69 for Paul Hennessey, his guide price of £5000 might not be out of reach yet.

Two that will definitely be sold however are Glengar Nitro and Glengar Maizy who can be classed as ‘on the market and selling’. A July 2024 brother and sister duo out Deerjet Sydney and Nice Mystery, their bidding currently stands at £1125 and £1401. Whilst these figures I’m told are at bargain prices, a need for kennel space for the next pups has been deemed crucial and as such these two will have to make way.

Ballyregan Cash, Daring Diamond, Flyers Hobbit, Stefans Fathead and Trinity Hoffa are all other greyhounds available but more bids will be needed in order for these to be sold.

Bidding ends at 6pm later today (5th October).
