September Greyhound Trader Online Auction: Plenty Still to Play For

We are now well into the latter stages of the September Greyhound Trader Online Auction, and with 25 greyhounds available to bid on, there is still plenty to report with several lots attracting significant interest with just 3 hours remaining.

Topping the sale at the time of writing is Razldazl Bluesky at £8,300. The November 2024 son of Droopys Scolari is a dual winner over six bends in Ireland and has caught the attention of six separate bidders so far. With plenty of opportunities available for top-quality stayers in the UK, it comes as little surprise to see Bluesky proving so popular.

He is on the market at his current price and will be sold to the highest bidder when the auction closes at 6pm this evening.

Dolores Ruth is also responsible for the second and third-highest priced greyhounds in the auction. Bluesky’s litter sister, Razldazl Rumi, is yet to venture over six bends, but after an impressive display of strong running over 525 yards at Shelbourne Park in 28.59 (+20), we expect to see her tried over a distance soon.

Her current bid of £4,000, from five separate bidders, is not enough to see her sold, but any movement towards the £5,000 mark could see her chanced on the market.

Razldazl Seal is the other lot in question, currently standing at £3,650. The young April 2025 son of Dorotas Wildcat boasts an impressive 29.03 (+20) trial, and he too looks likely to sell this evening. Seal has attracted bids from six different online bidders so far.

At the top of the page is Saleen Percy, who was ultra-impressive when winning his only ever race in 28.55 (+10) at Tralee. The October 2024 son of Airmount Nando is currently some way short of his reserve, with plenty of bidding required from the current £2,050 to see him find a new owner today.

A similar story applies to both Honzik and Da Roundie Man. Winners at Limerick in 28.83 and 28.59 respectively, these two young greyhounds require further attention from bidders, with current bids of £2,250 and £1,800 simply not enough to satisfy their owners.

Birol Nadir of Zenith Racing has kindly listed a number of talents from his team, with Zenith Wizard heading his lots. A litter brother to recent UK marathon star Droopys Rated, Wizard boasts some useful 575-yard form at Shelbourne Park and, as such, is expected to make considerably more than his current £1,550 bid.

Zenith Aslan is currently making the same amount and is closer to being sold. A son of Ballymac Cooper and Jaytee Pearl, he finished second behind only Slick Sentinel in the opening round of this year’s English Derby and has been the subject of interest from two separate bidders.

Zenith Eze has attracted four different bidders but is making just £1,100, which again remains short of his owner’s valuation.

Joining Razldazl Bluesky as the only other greyhound on the market as of now is Taylormade Allin at £1,050. A March 2025 daughter of Grouchos Duke, she qualified at Limerick last week with a comprehensive 13½-length trial victory in 29.23. She certainly looks to represent an interesting opportunity at her current price.

Greyhounds closer to joining her on the market include the September 2024 whelp Sallagh Donald, who trialled at Newbridge on Friday morning in 29.35 (-20). The subject of interest from three different bidders, his current bid stands at £1,300, with anything approaching the £2,000 mark potentially enough to see movement.

The same story applies to Saleen Joy. A January 2025 daughter of Saleen Jet, she was a debut winner at Tralee in 28.99 (+10) and looks to have the potential to be a very solid purchase for someone at the right price. Her current bid stands at £1,500.

Swift Quaid and Mob Moretti are another two lots not far off their respective reserves. Both are already performing at a good level in the UK, with current bids of £1,750 and £450 respectively. Only a little more work from prospective bidders could see deals done on both.

With the auction now entering its final stages, there is still plenty of opportunity across the catalogue, from established performers to exciting young prospects.

Don’t forget, the online auction closes at 6pm this evening. Bidders are reminded to ensure their bids are placed in good time, with the best chance of securing a greyhound coming from being the highest bidder when the auction closes.
