Savana Beau Reaches The Quarter Final In Spectacular Fashion

Savana Beau secured his place in the Quarter-Final draw by winning his 3rd round heat including current Towcester Track Record holder Lautaro.

In what was the race of the night, Heat 6 saw Savana Beau swoop late to claim a photo-finish victory in 29.55s at the heart-break of Signet Denver and Lautaro. Sent off a 14/1 shot with the bookmakers, Beau came from last to first to provide a delighted owner Kevin Boothby a fine win at his own track turning over 4/5F Lautaro.

An Apr’20 with a 29.85 550yd win at Shelbourne Park, it was his 29.59 sales trial run that persuaded Kevin to part with £12,500 to acquire the son of Clonbrien Hero at our Towcester ‘Pre-Derby’ Sales in March.

Kevin said ‘What a performance. With the likes of Lautaro and Signet Denver in his race, it’s incredible. These are top class dogs that he has picked up and then extended even further by them to the pick up with his engine. This is a proper greyhound.’

Trainer Diane Henry was just as complimentary to the greyhound when saying ‘That was unbelievable. This dog is getting better and better with every run. We hope to just qualify each week let alone win! I feel there is more to come from him and lets see how far we can go with him!’
